US Stock Market Summary – September

September, known as the “worst month” in US stock history, has closed.

S&P 500: lowest 6360.58, highest 6699.52, closing at 6688. Monthly gain +228 pts, or +3.53%. This is in line with our Sep 1 Bias (lower high and path), and close to the 6700 area.

Nasdaq 100: +5.4% in September.

Dow Jones 30: +1.87%.

Russell 2000: +2.96%.

 

Best performing sectors: memory chips MU, storage WDC and STX, chip equipment INTC, LRCX, AMAT, KLAC.

Large-cap tech leaders: TSLA +33%, ORCL +24%, GOOGL +14%, PLTR +16%.

Precious metals: gold and silver related stocks also gained strongly.

 

Worst sectors: consumer, real estate, and energy stocks declined.
